I want to tell you something about this story before we begin.

You have heard it your entire life. A small boy. A giant warrior. A single stone. An impossible victory. The underdog wins. Courage defeats fear. God favors the humble over the powerful.

It is a beautiful story. And it is almost entirely a mistranslation.

Not of the words. The words have been translated accurately enough. The mistranslation is of the meaning. Of what the story was actually doing. Of what the Hebrew names and numbers and details were pointing at underneath the surface narrative.

When you read this story in the original Hebrew, with the original meanings of the words restored, it stops being a story about a boy defeating a warrior. It becomes one of the most precise descriptions of human consciousness ever written. A map of what happens inside a person when they finally know who they are before the world tells them who they are not.

That is the story the Hebrew was telling all along.

Let me show you.
