Lovely article.. Makes me curious about the actual practices the Egyptians undertook. My practice is Buddhist. A couple of things. The New Age movement tends to offer bandaids, so to speak. Ways for people to relieve suffering. And, of course, people need that. But by and large those techniques don’t get to the root. There are zillions of kinds of meditation, but the practice that uses awareness to see thoughts arising and dissolving while maintaining awareness as ground, nonthought, is particularly helpful in wearing out the the constant preoccupation, and training mind to rest in its natural state.. That practice, in its many variations, is thought to possibly be 10,000 years old. It wouldn’t surprise me. It uses, as Suzuki Roshi called them, both small mind and Big Mind. Internal silence is regarded as the natural state.
The other thing is about feminine and masculine, used in various ways in religious understanding. The Buddhist approach sees the feminine as wisdom, all-encompassing wisdom of the natural state, natural mind. The masculine is understood to be the activity of wisdom, which in a realized being, can be no other than compassion. Feminine isn’t seen as passive, but as primordial ground. Masculine activity is the arising out of that ground. Women and men have both, at least as potential to be uncovered.
Modern man seems to think the current generations are so much smarter than what came before. One thing is certain. The current generation lacks wisdom.
I have many texts that unpack the Egyptian Mystery tradition. Currently they are housed where I do not have easy access. But I have the digital copy, and my phone. I will spend today reading all of it. Thank you!!! These are the words of life!
I'm very curious about more accurate definitions and descriptions of realms such as heaven or hell, or maybe other underworld type realms that correlate to the discovery of eternal life.
We have a very odd conception of heaven as a destination, but the Bible seems to indicate that the only time we spend in heaven is if we die in Christ waiting for the resurrection. This means Heaven is not a destiny or a destination.
I would love any more information about specific meanings of ancient words related to realms. Thank you for your important work.
I did not change my last name in ignorance..I took it to receive wisdom. Thank you for confirming much of what I felt to be closer to the truths of the Egyptian lineage.
